Sunday, September 14
The plan is for Sunday to be a 'feet-on-the ground' day. Possible ideas being explored include:
-
A coach tour of Prowse and historical sites in South Devon led by Malcom Prowse, who is a font of knowledge about the area and the various Prowse line within.
-
An excursion on the South Devon Railway between Totnes and Buckfastleigh. The SDR was formerly part of the Great Western Railway, which has Prowse connections.
-
A riverboat excursion on the River Dart.
ABOUT TOTNES:
Totnes is a picturesque market town with a colourful history dating back to 907 AD. It sits on the River Dart and is known for its lively and diverse community. It has a relaxed atmosphere and a great variety of independent shops and restaurants that we think you'll love. It is not far from other Prowse-notable towns, such as: Dartmouth, Torquay, Newton Abbot, Harberton, Ugborough, Moreleigh, Diptford, Ilsington, Ashburton, and many more.

The Visit Totnes website is an excellent resource for information about the area, including how to get around, activities, and places to stay and eat. Google Maps is also a good resource.

Totnes is reasonably easy to get to by car, coach, and rail. There are good road links via the M5, the A38 Devon Expressway, and the A384 to Totnes. National Express offers coach services from many places in the UK. The Totnes railway station (TOT) has good links to the rest of the UK and is but a 12 minute walk to Totnes Civic Hall.

Exeter (EXT) is the closest airport at a mere 30 miles but has limited flights. Bristol (BRS) is about 100 miles with more options. London Heathrow (LHR) and London Gatwick (LGW) are both about a 4-hour drive away but Heathrow is quicker than Gatwick if taking the train. Google Flights is a good resource for researching flight options.

PRICING:
There will be a set fee for general attendance and an a la carte 'menu' for other options. Pricing hasn't yet been finalized.
